In January 2021 George Melling was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
George, who played centre half for Blackpool FC, Morecambe, Altrincham, Leyland Town, Kendal, and his home team Coppull.
Nicci and George totally in love had to postpone their wedding day due to covid restrictions and time were of the essence as George had developed problems with his speech and his ability to walk had declined.
But the day finally came when they tied the knot with a handfasting wedding ceremony and celebrated their love surrounded with friends and family.
